Today on the blog is a vendor spotlight of Ria with Nature’s Grace Design! She’s an incredible florist and super talented in creating unique wedding florals! We can’t wait to work with her on some amazing weddings in 2015! Take a moments to get to know her better by reading below!
How did you get your start in the industry?
I actually began my flower journey in Landscape Design and Horticulture. I studied at CSU and took a job at a local garden center and nursery. My love for flowers and garden design grew exponentially over the years. I started doing weddings and private event flowers about 12 years ago and have not looked back since!
Favorite thing about your business?
My favorite facet about my business is that I really love what I do. I love continually learning new techniques and trends. I love designing out side of the box with an emphasis on nature. I love creating events that accentuate the natural beauty of the flowers and letting them dictate the design. “Never stop learning” is a key element to being the best at what we do. I try to go to at least one intensive workshop every year, studying with the best in my field so I can be the best for my clients.
What are your favorite wedding trends right now?
I love that the styles are turning back to more elegant affairs. I love seeing all the pieces; linens, china, flatware, chairs, and flowers, being brought together to create a truly cohesive look. I’m excited to see this trend grow in Colorado.
Describe your own personal wedding style.
If I had to describe my own personal wedding style it would be Lush Garden Romantic. I love full bouquets with fluffy peonies, heaven scented garden roses, dripping jasmine and exquisite ribbon. I love an arrangement that is full of different varieties of flowers that flow together like a Monet painting.
What is one thing you tell all your brides-to-be?
I actually tell them two important items, #1. Don’t buy “stuff” for your wedding just because you got it at 50% off. Often times we create an incredible flower piece that has to be put in a container that does not fit with the design because the client purchased 50 of them and just has to use them. Wait until the event has been designed and then go shopping to your hearts content! #2. Once we have settled on our design STOP LOOKING AT PINTEREST!!! Many bride’s will then be unsure of what we have settled on and they begin second guessing everything. This leads to unnecessary stress and anxiety, and planning your wedding should be an incredibly happy event. I want my brides to feel 100% confident in my abilities and have a truly wonderful experience creating their floral designs with me.
